Take it away - help with buying a new instrument

Take it away could help you get hold of the instrument of your dreams!

Whether you’re looking to own your first musical instrument, or upgrade to one that will help you move to the next level with your musical development, Take it away may be able to help make it more affordable for you to get hold of the instrument of your dreams.

Arts Council England’s Take it away scheme has been set up to make musical instruments more accessible to children and young people up to 25 years of age. It works by letting individuals spread the cost of buying a musical instrument with an interest-free loan of between £100 and £2,000 over 9 months (with a 10% deposit). Some retailers also offer longer repayment terms on higher value instruments up to £5,000. You can use the scheme to buy a whole range of instruments, so whether you’re in need of an accordion or a xylophone, Take it away should be able to help!

If you’re under 18, your parent or guardian will need to apply for the Take it away loan, but if you’re aged between 18 and 25, you can apply in your own right. All applicants need to be working at least 16 hours per week in order to be eligible, and will need to use the scheme in one of Take it away' 300+ participating music shops across England. You can search for your closest shop here.

For more information and to search the list of participating stores go to www.takeitaway.org.uk or telephone 0845 300 6200.
