Royal Albert Hall - Music is for Life Monday 8th May

Monday, 8 May, 2017 (All day)

Venue: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AP

Monday 8 May 2017 marks MMF’s triumphant return to the Royal Albert Hall, with 1,500 young musicians from Merton in tow!

This exciting concert will feature the world premieres of two special commissions, ‘The Peoples Guide to the Orchestra’ by Neil Brand and ‘Speak Up, Speak Out’, by Pete Churchill and Adam Saunders with a script by Andy Alty. The performance will include items from our Music Centre instrumental groups, Perseid and Cricket Green special schools, local youth guest players and our outstanding massed choir of 1,200 singers from Merton Primary and Secondary schools. It will be quite a night!!

SATS Exams - if your child is in year 6, please read the attached letter with regards to SATS exams.

The participating groups are:

• Training, Intermediate and Senior Concert bands
• Training, Intermediate and Chamber Strings + all Concert Orchestra members
• All MC percussion groups including Crown Lane Percussion
• Young Voices and Groovement Singers
• All Guitar ensembles (playing together)

Junior Wind and Brass and Stringbusters – although not performing as groups, they can still participate by signing up for Young Voices by Saturday 14th January at the latest.

Over the next few weeks, MMF will begin to receive batches of 'debenture' seats - those owned by private individuals and companies, who have the option of donating them to us. We then sell these direct from our office, minus the RAH charges. These tend to be more expensive box and stalls seats and we are expecting to receive around 300. However, we cannot say what tickets we will get and when they will arrive ( we are entirely at the mercy of seat-holders). I will send you more details of these after half term, as they come in.

If you have children in the choirs we suggest you sit in the opposite stand (see attached seating plan). Children in Music Centre ensembles will be central in the arena.
