The Foundation is strongly committed to providing opportunities for all young people to learn musical instruments or experience singing. We feel passionately about the importance of music in a child''s education. Over recent years, studies have shown that music has a profound effect on children''s intellectual and creative development.

As a Music Service, we subscribe to the belief that "Music touches all people, of all ages. It is a discipline which integrates intellectual, physical and aesthetic development. Through engagement in music, everyone can develop creativity, understanding, co-ordination, confidence and spiritual awareness. Making music requires individuals to collaborate, co-operate, listen to and hear each other, take risks, communicate clearly and develop individual responsibility and professional attitudes." [Music Education Council Manifesto for the Millennium]

The charity's future mission is to ensure that music continues to make a vital contribution to the educational and personal development of young people. Besides developing specific musical skills, playing an instrument or singing, either individually or in a group, helps to develop confidence, concentration, self-discipline and many other essential qualities needed for life. Similarly performing in bands, choirs and ensembles helps to develop social skills, a sense of identity and the ability to work with others.
